Since I haven't done one of these in a few months, I thought now would be a good time to touch base.
Last weekend, I celebrated a milestone birthday in Los Angeles, California. (Aren't they all milestones?). The highlight of the weekend was having dinner on my birthday at the iconic Musso and Franks Grill. If you have seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood or watched the Bosch series on Prime Video, you have seen this wonderful establishment.
Miss B and I did all the usual tourist-y things- Hollywood sign, Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Farmers Market/Dupar's, the Santa Monica Pier, Universal Studios CityWalk, and the bus tour gimmick. I even jotted down a few notes to incorporate into a future Clay Sullivan book.
Los Angeles, and I suppose California as a whole, is an oddly unique place. It has beautiful beaches, mountains, and canyons, rich history, and amazing weather. On the other hand, it is not a safe place by any means. You cannot walk down Hollywood Boulevard without being accosted either by grifters or panhandlers. Seeing a $200,000 Mercedes Maybach drive by homeless encampments is as a frequent a sight as a cow grazing is in West Virginia. It is certainly easy to see why the middle class is fleeing California in a mass exodus, which is sad, because again, California used to be a wonderful place and could be again.
We're mere weeks away from Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer. I look forward to lots of concerts, hikes, kayaking, and many lazy days in and around the pool. What am I currently reading?
I'm not currently reading anything but periodicals. Most of my time outside of work and personal time is being spent on writing.
I did manage to read Rex Stout's Fer-De-Lance on the flights to and from LA and quite enjoyed it.

What am I currently watching?
Most of TV time has been watching my beloved Lady Vols softball team recently. It's tournament time and this is when my anxiety level is at its peak.
Sporadically, I have been watching Remington Steele on Prime Video (streaming is one of the modern amenities that I actually enjoy). It's easy to see that Pierce Brosnan was going to be a major star.
What am I currently listening to?
I recently "discovered" Jackson Dean. This song is a good place to start of you want to check him out, but you can't go wrong on any of songs IMO. Jackson Dean - Don't Take Much (Lyric Video) (youtube.com) I even saw him in concert recently and he's great live, as well.
Been listening to a lot of Heart, as well, lately, since I'll be seeing them in concert next Monday. This will be a bucket list concert for me.
